The David

The short version. The David is an AI style and grooming coaching app. Your scan photos are stored privately, are visible only to you, and are sent to our AI provider solely to generate your feedback. They are never shown to other users, never posted to leaderboards, and never used to train AI models.
Leaderboards show usernames, improvement percentages and streak lengths only. The discipline module keeps its sensitive activity on your device and never sends it anywhere. You can ask us to delete your account and everything in it at any time.
The David is developed and operated by Chin Yu Xuan, an individual developer based in Malaysia. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “the app” refer to The David.

The David provides general style, grooming, habit and fitness coaching. It analyses photographs you choose to take and returns feedback and a daily routine.

We do not collect your contacts, your precise location, your health records, your email address, or your browsing activity in other apps or websites. The app contains no advertising or analytics SDK and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
When you complete a scan, your photos are uploaded to a private storage area that is scoped to your account. Other users of the app cannot access them, and they are not readable without your account’s credentials.
Your photos are then sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, purely to generate your scan feedback. Your messages to the in-app coach are sent to Anthropic for the same purpose — to produce a reply.
Leaderboards are opt-out and rank improvement and consistency only. Other users can see your username, your weekly improvement percentage, and your streak length in days.
They can never see your photos, your absolute scores, your goals, or anything about the discipline module. You can leave the leaderboards at any time in Settings; you will then no longer appear to anyone.
We use a small number of service providers, each only for the purpose listed. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
The app does not track you. It carries no advertising or analytics SDK, and it never combines your data with data from other companies’ apps or websites. That is why you are never shown Apple’s tracking permission prompt.
The app asks for camera access so you can take scan photos and run the guided sessions, and for permission to send notifications so it can remind you about your routine. Both are optional and can be changed at any time in your device settings. If you save a progress photo, the app asks for permission to add it to your photo library.
When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your photos, scan results, routine history, profile and leaderboard entries.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe / UK), the CCPA (California), or Malaysia’s PDPA. This policy is written to honour those rights for everyone, wherever you are.
Your photos are held in private storage that is scoped to your account. Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Our database is configured to deny access by default: the columns that control your paid access and your results can only be changed by our servers, never by an app on someone’s phone. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat scan photographs as sensitive and design accordingly.
The David is rated 16+ and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
